Sayako Takizawa is a Professor in Japanese Competition Law and Policy at the University of Tokyo. Her primary research focuses on insights into the historical foundations of antitrust regulations on exclusionary conducts. How Should Antitrust Law Regulate a Cumulatively Foreclosed Market? (Yuhikaku, 2009) is awarded OSUMI Kenichiro Award (2010) and Japan Institute of Business Law Prize (2010). She has also made significant contributions to the enforcement on an abuse of a superior bargaining position, which characterizes Japanese antitrust regulations. From an integrated perspective of exclusion and exploitation, her recent research focuses on how to identify and control antitrust harms of digital platforms.

Previously, she was a Professor of Tohoku University, School of Law (2006-2018) , a research associate of the University of Tokyo, Graduate Schools for Law and Politics (2001-2003, 2004-2006).
She studied law at University of Tokyo (B.A. 2001), Harvard Law School (LL.M. 2004). She was a visiting researcher at Georgetown University Law Center (2004) and Institute of European and Comparative Law at University of Oxford (2019-2020).
