Lawrence Glosten is the S. Sloan Colt Professor of Banking and International Finance at Columbia Business School and the chair of the finance and economics division.
Glosten has been at Columbia University since 1989. Before that, he taught at Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He has held visiting appointments at the University of Chicago and the University of Minnesota. He has published articles on the industrial organization of securities markets and the relationship between venture capitalists and entrepreneurs. Glosten’s work on electronic exchanges in the Journal of Finance won a Smith Breeden Prize for best paper. He has consulted for the New York Stock Exchange, Valumetrics and the MidAmerica Institute for Public Policy.
Glosten received his M.S. and Ph.D from Northwestern University in 1977 and 1980, and his B.A. from Occidental College in 1973.
